ANDREW DOUGLAS

Director At Pretium Jet Charter and Air Advantage Ltd

Andrew started his flying career in 1998,  initially just as a stress relief from the rigours of RMA Sandhurst.  After a successful initial career as a British Army Engineering Officer, the switch to professional flying was made to gain coal face (or should that be “Instrument panel”) experience.  After flying business jets for private owners, AOC and fractional schemes, Andrew saw that most management companies were simply not following the rigour and meticulous planning that the Military had taught him.  Set against the backdrop of the financial crisis where business and private flying were being reduced, Andrew grew his loyal client base through constantly demonstrating his reliability and dependability.

Coming from a background of strategic planning, researching and tactical execution, I was frustrated that too many trips,  potential new owners and opportunities were being lost due to poor planning and a lack of detail. Clients deserve better.”

Air Advantage was formed in 2011 initially as a consultancy and then expanded into the Charter market as client discussions lead to this path.  Notably, Andrew planned and coordinated the flight of an entire company to the Caribbean on multiple aircraft.  (He went out there too – something about it being a demonstration of the extra mile !!)

Now, due to the rising demand, the charter division has been put into a separate company “At Pretium”.  “Pretium” is Latin for “Value, worth” and it’s our way of letting you know that our pricing is best.

To Andrew, it’s about precision.  The engineering background, the military planning and the understanding of the flight deck operations all combine to produce a company ethos that puts clients’ requirements first and delivers outstanding results.
